The mother and son were finally able to leave the hospital after almost a month of isolation.
Doctors and nurses lined up across the hospital’s hallways and celebrated as the family 28-year-old Raneen Zaher, a Palestinian and now one-month-old Jad made their way to the exit, SEHA shared in a video.
The mother of the child, Jad, said: “I was told a day after giving birth, on April 8th, that the results of our tests to detect the coronavirus were positive, and I could not see my newborn at the time, as he was treated for two weeks, and was put in a separate unit in the hospital.”
Jad received treatment at a separate neonatal unit as he was born with a congenital heart disorder which also required him to be constantly monitored.
For his own safety, doctors had to treat the mother and child in separate hospital rooms.
Raneen was transferred to a quarantine hotel after confirmation of the stability of her condition, She underwent a second examination, which showed the result as negative, meaning that she was recovering.
Raneen told local newspapers that she had not shown any symptoms prior to being tested, and other three members of family, two sons aged eight and six, and Abu Zaher’s husband had tested negative for the Covid-19.
