Answers for your frequently asked questions about Curfew in Saudi Arabia

We know that Saudi Arabia has imposed curfew in all over the country from 3:00 pm to 6:00 am with the exception of 10 major cities with a 24-hours curfew. There are many frequently asked questions (FAQs) about the curfew which we have answered below.

Am I allowed to leave my house during curfew?

In the areas where 24-hours curfew is implemented, people can leave their houses to go to a hospital between 6:00 am to 3:00 pm.

From 3:00 pm to 6:00 am you can leave only in extreme emergency cases after taking permission SMS from the Red Crescent Authority

How can I buy groceries?

Everyone is encouraged to buy groceries online through different online applications who deliver items to your doorstep.

However, in the areas where 24-hours curfew is implemented, people can go to buy groceries only inside your own neighborhood within the original curfew hours (6 am to 3 pm).

How many people can sit in a car?

The Ministry has implemented a 2-persons-car-rule which means that only one driver and one other person can sit in a car in your neighborhood. Children are not allowed to go outside at all.

Which stores will still be open during the curfew?

According to the list provided by the ministry, the following will still be open;

Pharmacies, grocery stores, gas stations, cooking gas stores, banking services, repair shops, plumber shops, electricians’ shops, air conditioning repair, water delivery services, and septic tank disposal services.

Can I travel in or out of any of the above cities?

No, the entry and exit from all cities have been stopped temporarily. Only those people who are exempted from the curfew regulations are allowed to travel.

Can I get restaurant delivery during the curfew?

Restaurant delivery is still available via any of the food delivery apps (e.g. HungerStation, Talabat, Toyou), but bear in mind that demand is very high at the moment and it might take a long time for an order to be accepted/delivered. Making food at home is encouraged.

Who can go out during curfew freely?

According to the Ministry of Interior, the curfew does not include employees of “vital sectors,” such as food sector, health sector, media sector, transport of goods, e-commerce activities, accommodation services (hotels and furnished apartments), energy sector, financial services, telecom sector, water, delivery services, Muezzins and diplomatic missions.
