Saudi Arabia issued a royal order announced 22nd February as the anniversary of the founding of the Saudi state as Foundation Day, and it is considered as an official holiday every year all over the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia’s Foundation Day: Holiday for public, private sectors announced

The royal order issued by Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud through Saudi Press Agency, stating that the move celebrates the history of the state running back hundreds of years. The royal order states the following.

  1. The day February 22 of each year shall be a day to celebrate the founding of the Saudi state, in the name of “Foundation Day”, and it becomes an official holiday.
  2. Our order is communicated to the competent authorities for approval and implementation.

Citizens and Residents of Saudi Arabia to witness new annual national holiday for the first time this year on 22nd February, it has been created to recognize the foundation of the First Saudi State in 1727 (1139 AH) by Imam Mohammed Ibn Saud.

Two centuries later, it come to an end with the unification of the Kingdom and the foundation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by King Abdulaziz in the year 1932.
