Visitors Allowed to Use International Driving Licences in Saudi Arabia

A visitor can use a foreign driver’s license in Saudi Arabia for a duration of one year, according to the General Directorate of Traffic (Moroor) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The calculation of the period of a one year, calculates from the date of entry into the Kingdom, or the international or foreign driving license expiry date, whichever is earlier.

This came in response to a inquiry received by Saudi Moroor on its official X (Twitter) handle, from a business visitor with multiple entry visa, regarding the possibility of visiting Saudi Arabia and driving a vehicle with a foreign driving license.

The Kingdom is working to increase tourism as part of efforts to diversify its heavily dependent on oil economy. Saudi Arabia has recently made a number of comforts available in an effort to attract more visitors from abroad. For people of various nations, they include the issuing of tourist visas, on arrival or online visas.

In July, Saudi Arabia launched an electronic business visit visa to make it simpler for foreigners to travel to the country to look investment opportunities. The name “visiting investor visa” was given to this type of visa.
