A woman in her 20s published several tweets on her social media X (twitter) account against Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his wife Khadija رضي الله عنها. She had deliberately used a vulgar and offensive tone to adhere to the subject.

Thus, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Media Regulation summoned the Saudi woman to post such content.

The Saudi prosecutor has stated that those people found guilty of blasphemy and insulting Prophet Muhammad (SAW) might face up to five years in prison and a heavy fine of SR 3 million.

According to the General Authority of Media Regulation, they supervise and monitor digital media. They have to ensure that the content being shared on different social media platforms is according to what has Cabinet’s approval of the new regulation governing the authority.
